Explorations in Opera 2009: A Day Camp for Kids!

Specific information regarding Summer Camp 2009 will be available shortly. Please contact Peter Hoyle, Director of Education, if you have any questions.

Led by OperaNJ's Director of Education and professional opera singers, students will explore opera through theater games and improvisation. They will also watch a dress rehearsal of an OperaNJ summer production. Students will learn about the different jobs of producing an opera from costume design to set construction.

Please bring a brown bag lunch (no refrigeration available). Snacks are provided by Opera New Jersey.

Further information and reservations are available by calling Peter Hoyle, Director of Education, at (609) 799-7700 or by e-mailing PHoyle@Opera-NJ.org.

Here's what previous participants think about OperaNJ's Summer Camp

  • "Jackie just completed the week of Opera Camp last week, and I must say, I am VERY impressed! She loved it! I stopped in often and I was so pleased with what they were working on. I particularly liked the Props workshop they did. One night at dinner, Jackie asked, "Mommy, what's a paradox?" I love it! And for three nights, she sang herself to sleep, one night telling a complicated story through song."
-Lisa, mother of 2007 camp attendee

  • "[Opera New Jersey’s Director of Education] and the gang at opera camp are really wonderful. The whole affair culminated on Friday afternoon when the parents assembled to see little mini-opera that the 30 or so kids put together. Jackson's...heart is still with the Pirate King, the Queen of the Night, and the OperaNJ!"
-John, father of 2007 camp attendee

  • "...the Opera Camp is the one camp that our son has fallen in love with and has been looking forward to."
    -Father of 2006 camp attendee

  • "So once again, thank you for this memorable experience...Thank you for filling our house with arias, costumes, and good humor inspired by your yesterday’s work with the children, as well as thank you for the happy anticipation that our entire family now shares of tonight’s performance of Le nozze di Figaro."
-Marzenna, mother of 2005 summer camp attendee
